Glossary

Key terms and definitions used throughout Angle's loyalty platform.


A

Available Credit Store credit that has passed the reward delay period and is ready to use at checkout. Distinct from pending credit.

C

Cashback A reward issued as store credit based on a percentage or flat dollar amount of a qualifying order. Calculated on the order total excluding any store credit used as payment.

Checkout Extension An app block for the Shopify checkout page (Shopify Plus only) that displays available credit, an apply toggle, and an earn preview. Requires Checkout Extensibility.

Custom Action Rewarder The "Angle: Custom Action Rewards" action in Shopify Flow. A universal trigger/action framework that issues store credit rewards for any event that Shopify Flow can detect.

Customer Account Extension An app block for the Shopify customer account page that displays membership status, credit balances, wallet pass download QR code, and tier benefits. Works on all Shopify plans with Online Store 2.0 themes.

E

Eligibility Period The time window used to evaluate a customer's qualifying spend for tier placement. Options: Calendar year, Rolling year, or Lifetime.

Enrollment Qualifier The method used to determine which tier a customer belongs to. Either spend-based (automatic placement by qualifying spend) or tag-based (manual assignment via Shopify customer tags). Applies to the entire membership program — cannot be mixed.

Event Manager A web console at share.anglehq.com/event-manager used to send push notifications to event ticket holders. Supports time slot groups for targeted messaging.

Event Tickets Branded Apple and Google Wallet passes used for event admission. Include event details, QR codes for check-in, and push notification capability.

F

FIFO Expiration First In, First Out. When a customer applies store credit at checkout, the soonest-expiring credit is consumed first. Managed automatically by Shopify.

G

Give/Get Model The referral reward structure where both parties receive credit. "Give" is what the referee receives; "Get" is what the referring member receives. Values are configurable per tier.

M

Membership The top-level loyalty program containing up to 5 tiers. Configured with a name, eligibility scope, enrollment qualifier, and eligibility period.

O

Omnichannel Spend Tracking The system that combines online purchases (Shopify), in-store purchases (POS + wallet pass), and off-platform purchases (receipt capture) into a single qualifying spend figure for tier calculation.

P

Pending Credit Store credit that has been earned but is still within the reward delay window. Visible to the customer but not yet available to spend. Angle recomputes pending credit against returns and order modifications before issuing.

Push Notification A message sent to a customer's phone via their wallet pass. Appears on the lock screen attached to the branded wallet pass card. Up to 3 per day.

Q

Qualified Spend The cumulative dollar amount of a customer's purchases that count toward tier placement. Tracked separately as Qualified Spend Online, Qualified Spend Offline, and Qualified Spend Total.

QR Code The scannable code on a wallet pass used for two purposes: POS customer identification (staff scan to load the customer profile) and referral sharing (new customers scan to sign up).

R

Receipt Capture The process of attributing off-platform purchases (restaurants, retail partners, wholesale) to a customer's loyalty profile. Customers submit receipt photos via SMS; staff review and allocate qualifying spend.

Referral A system where enrolled customers share a unique URL or QR code. When a new customer signs up and makes their first purchase, both parties receive store credit rewards.

Reward Delay A configurable waiting period between when cashback is earned and when it becomes available credit. During the delay, Angle monitors the order for changes and recomputes the reward to prevent over-issuance. Common settings: 7, 14, or 30 days.

S

Shortcuts Quick-access links on the back of a wallet pass. Each shortcut has a title, link label (max 20 characters), and URL. Configured independently per tier.

Store Credit Shopify's native payment method that Angle uses as the foundation for all rewards. Unlike points, store credit is a real dollar value managed by Shopify's ledger. It can be applied at checkout like a credit card or gift card.

T

Tier A level within a membership program. Each tier has its own cashback rate, referral values, wallet pass design, and benefits. Customers are assigned to one tier at a time based on the enrollment qualifier.

Tier Tag A Shopify customer tag auto-generated when a tier is created, in the format MembershipName:TierName. Used for segmentation in Shopify, Klaviyo, and Shopify Flow. Immutable after the tier is saved.

W

Wallet Pass A digital membership card for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Displays the customer's tier, credit balance, QR code, and brand identity. Serves as a push notification channel, POS identifier, and referral tool.
